The Travelers Access Service (TAS): An End-User Tutorial
What is TAS?
A service that allows traveling computer users to access the Internet from over 2000 locations in over 150 countries.
Using TAS, traveling users can access all Internet applications, including email.
Getting Started
Make sure your computer has the most up-to-date TAS software (version 2.40). You can verify this by launching the TAS software and going to “Help” menu and “About Ipassconnect”. If you have versions 2.10, 2.22 or 2.30, that’s ok, you can proceed and make a connection. You’ll be prompted to update the dialer after a successful connection.
See Your Administrator if…
You don't see the TAS icon on your desktop. (Note: TAS dialer software is available on www.cgnet.com/tas3)
You don't have a user name and password to access TAS.
Step 1
Double-click on the TAS icon to launch the dialer.
Select the appropriate connection tab to be used. Use the Modem tab for dialup connection (almost always used).
Step 2
Using the Location drop down menus, select local Country, State (if applicable) and City.
Or use the ‘Search by number” tab to search for the nearest number to the phone number you are calling from. Enter area code and number on the appropriate boxes.
Step 3
Select a number from the Phone Book list.
The selected number will appear next to the Dial Properties button.
Step 4
Click on the Dial Properties button.
The Dial Properties dialog box will appear.
If required, make changes to properties here.
For example, if a number is required to access an outside line, enter it in the appropriate box under General.
Click OK.
Step 5
Click Options and Settings.
The settings box has 2 tabs (General and Dialup).
The General tab, will allow you to set the phonebook to update automatically after a successful connection. You can also your default Internet browser to launch on this tab.
The Dialup tab will allow you to select which modem to use for your dialup connection.
Click OK.
Step 6
Click Connect.
Step 7
You will now be prompted for your Username and Password.
Enter each in the appropriate box.
Click OK.
Step 8
After connecting successfully, double-click on your browser icon.
Most likely, your browser will be Microsoft Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
