Configuring the X400 Connector to Connect Exchange Sites
A X400 Connector can be used to connect Microsoft Exchange Server Sites not on the same local area network. Contact CGNET to get the details for your X400 connector.
- Log on as ExchAdmin.
- Start the Microsoft Exchange Administrator.
- Install a MTA Transport Stack, from the menu select File | New Other | MTA Transport Stack.
- Select the Type: TCP/IP MTA Transport Stack
- Review the information for the Transport Stack. In most instances, the defaults will be correct and can be accepted.
- To create an X400 Connector, from the menu select File | New Other | X.400 Connector.
- Select TCP/IP X.400 Connector from the Connector Type dialog box. This is based on the TCP/IP MTA Transport Stack created in step 4.
- On the General tab Enter the following information:
- Initially set the Schedule tab to Always
- On the Connected Sites tab, enter the Site name of the site you’re connecting to, using information from CGNET.
- On the Stack tab, enter the IP Address of the Exchange Server to which this Site will connect.
- Click the APPLY button and the OK button.
Select the Server: Choose the server which will support the X400 Connector.
Display Name: A name used to identify this X400 Connector.
Directory Name: A name used to uniquely identify this connector directory. We suggest making this the same as the Display name.
Remote MTA name: Name of the Exchange Server to which this Site will connect using X400. For CGIAR Sites: NOCCGIARX4
MTA transport stack: TCP/IP MTA Transport Stack created in step 4.
Deselect Remote clients support MAPI (otherwise systems that don’t support RTF will get Winmail.dat attachments.)
Configuring Directory Replication
Contact CGNET to get the details for your directory replication connector.
- In the Exchange Admin program, go to File, New Other, Directory Replication Connector.
- Enter the Remote Site.
- Server on Remote Site.
- Select NO , The Remote site is Not Available on the Network
- Under the General Tab: Configure the Local BridgeHead Server and the Remote BridgeHead Server.
- Under the Schedule Tab, set the time to Always. This is for testing purposes only. Once it is working, set it to Selected Times. Three or four times daily is recommended.
- Under the Site Tab, check the Inbound and Outbound Sites. These will be blank at first. Wait a bit and then check again. Once you see the sites, do a request now and refresh all items.
- If directory replication is working, after about 10 minutes you will see entries in your Global Address List from the other site. You can add some new custom recipients to make sure it is working. After adding them, it should take about 5 minutes to be replicated to the other server. After the replication is complete, set back the replication Schedule to Selected Times.
